Discover the magic of Super 8 film through the 19th edition of Acadie Underground: an evening of short films created by artists from here and from away! Participants (individually or in groups) were given 24 hours with a camera to create a 3 minute film. Since there is no editing afterwards, the films are shot and edited entirely in camera at the time of filming. Also, Super 8 film has no sound track. Therefore, some films can be created with the intention of being accompanied by either a recording or a live performance during the projection.
Acadie Underground is one of the most popular events at the FICFA. Over a dozen films will be presented to an enthusiastic crowd on Friday November 13, 2015. Presented as a part of the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie since 1996, Acadie Underground is one of the longest running Super 8 events in North America! At this 19th edition, the public will be invited to vote for the 3 best films. Acadie Underground is a collaboration between the FICFA and the Galerie Sans Nom and it is presented as a part of the Volet d'arts médiatiques du FICFA.
The volet d'art médiatiques of the FICFA invites media artists to submit media art exhibitions and installations for galleries or public locations as well as live performances of video, film, and VJing.
The Festival international de cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA), is organized by Film Zone Inc., a non profit organization whose mission is to promote and make accessible, francophone cinema from abroad to francophones and francophiles in the Atlantic region, all while promoting and making known Acadian cinéma right here in Acadie and through the francophone world.
