Temporary structures : Murs inachevés, phase II est une exposition qui présente des dessins de constructions et des installations architecturales constituées principalement de matériaux manufacturés et d’images imprimées sur papier. Intégrées à ses charpentes, ces images portent en elles un commentaire ironique sur le caractère factice de certains matériaux de construction et de rénovation, en copiant ce qui tente d'imiter le vrai. C’est par la précarité de ses charpentes et le caractère incongru de ses compositions architecturales qu’Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc déjoue les codes nord-américains du bâtiment. Ses assemblages composites et incongrus représentent des espaces et des éléments architecturaux qui s’inspirent du postmoderniste par la juxtaposition et le collage de références anciennes et modernes au sein de ses installations. Celles-ci représentent des espaces et des éléments architecturaux dont la fonction serait vouée à l’échec. Figées à un stade indéterminé entre construction et déconstruction, elles sont privées par leur état incertain du sentiment de protection corporelle que nous procurent tous bâtiments, mais également en raison de l’absence de pérennité qui est habituellement rattachée à l'architecture. 

Biographie

Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc vit et travaille à Montréal où elle a complété son baccalauréat en arts visuels et médiatiques à l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) en 2016. Lauréate du prix Albert-Dumouchel pour la relève artistique en 2015, elle a en plus effectué des résidences de création à Bolìt Centre d’Art Contemporani de Girona (Catalogne), Centre Sagamie (Alma), L’Imprimerie centre d’artistes (Montréal), Imago (Moncton) et Engramme (Québec). Elle a présenté sa première exposition individuelle, Structures temporaires : Unfinished wall work, à Engramme (Québec) en avril 2018, et depuis elle a exposée à la Galerie AVE (Montréal) et son exposition à la Galerie Sans Nom est sa première exposition effectuée à l’extérieur du Québec.

Temporary structures : Murs inachevés, phase II is an exhibition that presents construction drawings and architectural installations consisting mainly of manufactured materials and images printed on paper. Embedded in its frames, these images carry in them an ironic commentary on the factitious nature of certain materials of construction and renovation, by copying what tries to imitate the true one. It is through the precariousness of its framework and the incongruous nature of its architectural compositions that Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc thwarts the North American building codes. Her composite and incongruous assemblages represent spaces and architectural elements that are inspired by the postmodernist by the juxtaposition and the collage of ancient and modern references within her installations. These represent spaces and architectural elements whose function would be doomed to failure. Frozen at an indeterminate stage between construction and deconstruction, they are deprived by their uncertain state of the feeling of corporal protection that all buildings give us, but also because of the lack of durability which is usually attached to the architecture.


Biography

Ann Karine Bourdeau Leduc lives and works in Montreal, where she completed her Bachelor’s in Visual and Media Arts at UQAM in 2016. Recipient of the Albert-Dumouchel emerging artist award in 2015, she has also participated in artist residencies at Bolìt Centre d’Art Contemporani de Girona (Catalogne), Centre Sagamie (Alma), L’imprimerie centre d’artistes (Montreal), Imago (Moncton) and at Engramme (Quebec City). She presented her first solo exhibition, Structures temporaires : Unfinished wall work at Engramme (Quebec City) in April 2018. Ever since, she presented her work at Galerie AVE (Montreal), and her exhibition at Galerie Sans Nom is her first exhibition outside Quebec.
